About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and professional Education Officer to join our PR & Marketing team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and educational programs for local schools and community groups. You will act as a key representative of Sea Aquarium Park and play an important role in promoting marine education in a fun, inspiring, and accessible way.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for local education program guests
- Represent Sea Aquarium Park in a professional and commercial manner
- Coordinate and deliver educational programs both on-site and off-site
- Guide and supervise children and groups during educational activities
- Deliver engaging presentations and interactive learning experiences about marine life
- Build and maintain strong relationships with primary schools and local community groups
- Ensure a high standard of guest experience and customer service
- Support PR, marketing, and community outreach initiatives
- Assist other departments and on-site partners when required
- Maintain a safe, positive, and well-organized learning environment
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- Pedagogical background or relevant experience in education
- Proven experience working with (groups of) children
- Strong affinity with marine life and willingness to learn
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Fluent in Papiamentu, Dutch and English
- Customer-focused and service-oriented mindset
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Flexible availability, including weekends
- Willingness to accept additional reasonable duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills
- Education or training in Education, Environmental Education, Biology, Marine Biology, or Tourism
- Teaching certification or relevant educational credential
- First Aid & CPR certification
- Child safeguarding / child protection training
- Experience with lesson planning and curriculum development
- Public speaking or guided tour experience
- Experience in outdoor, experiential, or informal education settings
- Community outreach and school partnership experience
- Strong organizational and coordination skills
- Ability to support marketing and promotional activities
- Professional, reliable, and team-oriented attitude
- Strong safety awareness and sense of responsibility
- Enthusiastic, patient, and child-centered approach
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse audiences
