Largest of the toothed whales, sperm whales have an enormous box-like head with a single blowhole on the left of head at the front.  Body is dark grayish; skin often appears wrinkled behind head.  Back has a rounded or triangular hump followed by “knuckles” along spine.  Found only in deep water, they can be seen singly or in groups up to fifty.
