Dolphin Academy opende zijn deuren op 26 mei 2002. Op die dag werden onze belangrijkste \u2018collega’s\u2019, de dolfijnen, vanuit Ro\u00e0tan, Honduras, naar hun nieuwe huis op Cura\u00e7ao overgevlogen. Na de eerste vijf dolfijnen is de familie uitgebreid en huisvesten we nu meer dan 20 kust tuimelaars.<\/strong><\/div>\n

Een gevoel van verwondering en fascinatie<\/strong>
\nHet is onze missie om een waarheidsgetrouw beeld over dolfijnen te presenteren, ondanks hun populaire en soms mythologische publieke imago. Dit doen we door experiences aan te bieden die leuk en educatief zijn. Op onze locatie kunnen bezoekers getrainde tuimelaars observeren en met ze communiceren in onze faciliteit of op open zee. Door het bieden van informatie en interactie hopen we een gevoel van verwondering en fascinatie op te wekken op basis van feiten, niet van fictie.<\/div>\n

\nDaarnaast hopen we onze gasten te motiveren om een persoonlijke bijdrage te leveren aan een betere leefomgeving voor dolfijnen. Het is onze hoop dat de experiences die wij bieden, het belang en de zorg voor het welzijn en de bescherming van dolfijnen en hun omgeving bevorderen. We beschermen waar we van houden!<\/div>\n

Bij Dolphin Academy zijn we er trots op dat we een van de weinige faciliteiten ter wereld zijn die werken met getrainde dolfijnen op open zee. De dolfijnen leven op het terrein van het Cura\u00e7ao Sea Aquarium in vier primaire lagunes, onderling verbonden door secundaire bekkens en kanalen. De lagunes staan in contact met de oceaan, hierdoor stroomt er constant vers zeewater en talloze vissen en ongewervelde soorten naar binnen.<\/div>\n
