De dolfijnen bij Dolphin Academy zijn kust tuimelaars. Deze specifieke dolfijnensoort leeft van nature en gedijt goed in ondiepe kustwateren. De zuiverheid van het water waarin ze zwemmen, de kwaliteit van het voedsel dat ze krijgen, de sociale banden die ze met elkaar vormen en de kwaliteitszorg die door mensen wordt geboden, vallen allemaal samen om de gezondheid en het welzijn van elke dolfijn te behouden.<\/div>\n

Sterke zeewinden en stromingen drijven zuiver zeewater vanuit de diepe open oceaan naar de leefomgeving van de dolfijnen. De vissen die we aan de dolfijnen voeren zijn afkomstig van en ge\u00efmporteerd uit de meest productieve en ongerepte wateren ter wereld en leveren voedsel van restaurantkwaliteit. De grote leefomgeving biedt de dolfijnen de ruimte en gelegenheid om naar hartenlust met elkaar in contact te komen, waardoor ze de natuurlijke patronen van de sociale dynamiek in de natuur kunnen aannemen.<\/div>\n

Elke dolfijn krijgt een eigen persoonlijke trainer toegewezen waarmee ze een unieke en emotionele band ontwikkelen. Elke ochtend onderzoeken trainers de dolfijnen om er zeker van te zijn dat ze allemaal in goede fysieke conditie zijn. Onze eigen dierenarts vergezelt de trainers vaak tijdens de ochtend rondes. De dolfijnen werken vrijwillig mee tijdens volledige lichamelijk onderzoek, fitheidstesten en zelfs bloedmonsters en kweken.<\/div>\n

We hebben de modernste diagnosetools tot onze beschikking, die we bijvoorbeeld gebruiken voor vrijwillige interne onderzoeken. Als er een ziekte optreedt, zal onze dierenarts proberen de oorzaak te achterhalen en indien nodig medicijnen voorschrijven.<\/div>\n
